Instant Sooji Dhokla
I simply enjoy making Gujarati snacks. They are interesting to cook and tasty to eat. We all enjoy eating dhokla. I have already shared white dhokla recipe. That is the authentic method of making it. But how about if you want to make it instant.
So, to solve this problem of yours I have come up with this Instant Dhokla recipe.
Unlike the regular once these won't need hours of soaking and fermentation but these are ready in just 20 minutes. They need very less ingredients and are soft and moist.
So next time when you have evening hunger pangs or you have some surprise guests at tea time, make these instantly and everyone will love them.
Instant Sooji Dhokla
Serves 4
Ingredients
1 cup Sooji
1 cup Curd
Salt to taste
1tsp ginger chilli paste
Pinch of soda bi carb/ mitha soda
For tempering
1tsp oil
Few mustard seeds
Few curry leaves
2 green chillies finely chopped
Method
- In a big bowl take the Sooji and add curd to it.
- Mix well and add salt and ginger chilli paste.
- Let it rest for 5-7 minutes. You can add water if required after resting as certain times Sooji soaks more water/curd than mentioned in measurements.
- As the batter is resting. Take a deep pan or steamer and starting boiling water in it.
- Now add mitha soda or soda bi carb to the dhokla mix and stir well till the batter has bubbles.
- Immediately put the batter in a greased dhokla plate and place it in the steamer.
- Cover the steamer and let the dhokla cook for minimum of 10 minutes.
- Check by inserting a knife or toothpick if the dhokla are done after 10 minutes.
- Once done , prepare the tempering.
- In a small pan take some oil.
- Once the oil is hot add the mustard seeds, curry leaves and chopped chillies.
- As they splutter, spread this tempering on dhokla and cut them into small pieces.
- You can even garnish them with fresh coriander.
